Having a family break in Bridport

This half term has actually gone at a nice pace, sometimes holidays flyby but this one seemed to be filled with long productive days. This is not to say that I am looking forward to jumping back on the work train! We spent the beginning of our holidays in a lovely holiday cottage in Bridport. However old I get I am never going to stop enjoying the company of my wonderful family. If anything my love for them just gets deeper! It's funny how the tables turn I think I worry now about my folks as much as they probably worry about me! Not that they give me any grief, apart from my sides might ache with laughter or my heart might drop a little when its time to say goodbye.

We had a lovely Meal here - Lovely Staff and the best steak!

We loved the Antique / Vintage Quarter but unfortunately the power was
off so didn't get to sit in this lovely Cafe

I hope you had a lovely half term!
Spring is so close I can smell it and the birds
are beginning to sing

....Revisiting my childhood holidays in Pembrokeshire

A week ago last Saturday I had the same bubbling of anticipation that I did when I was a child, as we were heading over the Seven Bridge. We were on our way to our childhood stamping ground in an old rented Farm House in Angle in Pembrokeshire. It was amazing! My brother and sister and I spent our days at our favourite old haunts, swimming in the sea, eating pints of prawns and generally soaking up the spectacular Pembrokeshire coastline(I will post later in the week about my favourite spots). This magic place will always be my second home! The Farmhouse was just how I remembered; lots of old furniture, chintz and big old sprung beds, a big old steel bath, and the close by sounds of sheep baa'ing and masts chiming in the harbour. I'm so glad we went back!

I love this old kitchen, everything is the same as how I remembered it!

My Brother and I ran into this dining room to see if the pickled adder was still there..
sadly it wasn't, but the out of tune piano remains!

Sorry for our absence!

I hope you're all enjoying the summer,

....wondering on Dartmoor

Dartmoor is a great place, wild and windy and full of surprises. On my last day of my mini holiday in Devon, we decided to go on a stroll over the moors. This little trip took us through some very windy roads and a few hairy turns. I didn't think we would get there until it was dusk, but then we came across the tell tale signs that we had hit the moors; 1) It was looking a bit cloudy and 2) we finally came across a cattle grid.

I should have taken a photo of the map but here is a scribble from memory.

It was a very enjoyable end to the hols, chatting with friends, whistling tunes, jumping streams and getting very muddy. Also learnt about how to work out where North is depending on the direction of the southern easterly winds, in which the tree's would bend to. Also moss will usually grow facing the sun (south) .... every day is a school day. Not sure I would trust myself on these moors though!

Dream house!

snow drops!

We found these little wild piggies snuffling and squealing, they loved the banana skins!

What adventures have you been on lately?
